Training and Capacity Building

Training and Capacity Building is a part of NYSASDRI’s strategy to empower the Programmes the weaker sections of the society. The training programmes are designed to equip the grassroot people and those engaged in development activities-benefiting the poor and the marginalised.

TRAINING ON PEDIATRIC OPHTHALMOLOGY

A special training for pediatric ophthalmology was organized by KEHRC for the doctors in and around the Dhenkanal Township. In total 12 doctors participated in it. The training programme which was organized on 21st of Oct saw presence of eminent personalities on the on the dias. Director Ophthalmology Dr.Damodar Das, pediatric surgeon Dr.H.S Patra participated in the seminar and narrated that out of every one thousand 15 are blind in Orissa. Most of the pediatric problems can be corrected if necessary actions are taken in time.

 

They came out that with emergence of pediatric surgeons the situation is going to improve and the Hospitals like Kalinga Eye Hospital and Research Centre will have to take active role in pediatric eye care. As the there are more than 1.30 lakhs patients need eye care every year KEHRC is planning to extend its services to panchyat level by opening fixed vision centres in Dhenkanal district experimentally.


Training on leadership and positive attitude development

Three day training for staffs of NYSASDRI who are working in Community Empowerment and Advocacy for Sustainable Healthcare for People in Extreme Needs in Orissa. Trainer from IMAGE Mr. Ashok Mangaraj was the facilitator for the same   The training which was held from 13th to 15th of Jan 07 aimed to introduce community organizers and project mangers with topics like communication, leadership, development of positive attitude, as well as time management and gender concerns in development. In total 25 participants participated in the programme. Similarly a two day workshop was also facilitated by Mrs. Sarita Badapanda Technical Advisor, Interact Worldwide. This two day workshop concentrated on increasing programme visibility as well as compartmentalizing the whole programmes and finalizing the role clarity of each members involved in the team. Both the training was highly successful as participants learned few key lessons from the sessions.
