16,318 Cataract Surgeries till March 2008

KEHRC (Kalinga Eye Hospital & Research Centre), Dhenkanal is a unit of NYSASDRI. It provides reliable and advanced eye care for all. It has performed 16,318 surgeries till March 2008 eye surgeries in Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Kendujhar, Jajpur and Jagatsinghpur districts of Orissa, India. Out of which 14,404 are camp surgeries and only 1914 are paying surgeries. Camp surgeries are free of cost as a part of KEHRC’s mission – eradicating unwanted blindness from Rural Orissa. Free surgeries have been done under the partnership of ORBIS international, DIK Germany, and Unite for Sight. We are thankful to our partners. KEHRC is paying more attention to paediatric cases. Till March 2008, there are 4,580 paediatric OPD covered at base hospital and 1,100 at camp sites. We are hopeful that the commitment of the manpower as well networking with the international organisations will make a big difference in eradicating physical blindness from rural Orissa population.
