A Small Initiative for a Big Difference
After a series of discussions with the community and an analysis of past experiences, NYSASDRI instituted long-term developmental activities through micro credit programmes in the inaccessible areas of Kurkunda block of Malkangiri district. The main focus of the programme is to promote the primitive Koya tribes as well as refugee Bengalis.In this programme, Village women groups / SHGs are formed and promoted. Credit support is provided for micro-entrepreneurship among the women for their economic empowerment.
 
 

As money is disbursed to and collected from women only, the programme is very successful in enhancing their role in family economics and decision-making activities. Similarly, the low credit amount attracts only the poor and the vulnerable families.
