A Burden-Free
Experience
NYSASDRI has established Education centres
in ten hamlets villages of Gondia block
in Dhenkanal District. Presently, there
are three hundred eighteen (318) children
are receiving joyful education through
these centres. Sixteen of them have been
enrolled in the formal education system.
In addition to education, adequate care
is given to supplement the nutritional
requirement of the enrolled children.
Recreational activities like sports, and
reading and writing facilities are also
provided. The core focus is to make education
as pleasurable as possible, without making
it a burden for the innocent children.

| Instead
of managing the centres on its own the organisation
manages the centres with a community-based approach
by involving the villagers in all its activities.
Village Education Committees (VECs) are formed in
each of the 10 villages to look after the centres’
activities. An apex body named as Anchalika Sishu
Unnayana Samiti (Regional Child Development Committee)
with representatives from each VEC has been formed.
This body is responsible for sustainability of the
education initiative after exit of the external fund.
An account has been opened in a bank with an initial
deposit of Rs. 5,556 – raised from community
leaders. One member of NYSASDRI is also representing
in the body to assist the management. |
The programme
is being supported by DIK, Germany since 1999. |
