SHG BRINGS BACK CONFIDENCE AMONG THE WOMEN
Since the beginning formation always takes more energy than destruction and this law also holds good for the formation of SHG. The Marang buru SHG of Jambu pabal sahi composed of women who neither had any intention for any group nor they have any desire to sit in a group. They also admit it in their own way. When Gobardhan Kabi of NYSASDRI contacted the members of this group they hesitated to form the group.But with constant persuasion they succumbed at last agreeing to form a group. |

We first started a literacy programme and this was hugely successful and this is the reason which brought confidence within us. Gradually we came to know about different aspects of SHG. We fist started with two SHGs at village level. Initially there was meeting twice a month. Then we opened one account in the SBI Joranda. The bank offered a loan of rupees of Rs.25,000 on our deposit. One phul Hembarm says she brought one sheep out of the received money from the by paying Rs.2100. This sheep has given birth to three others selling this I can get Rs.5100 . This implies there is a profit of Rs.3000 in one year. The other members of the group said we came to know about different govt. schemes through this project. |
The role of Palli sabha and Gram Sabha in Village development activities were also came to known. Now we have a saving of Rs.10, 000 in our account. All the women had something to earn regularly through income generation activities. We will also take active part in the electoral process.
